Chinook’s Edge School Division has named Greg Ferris as the new principal of École Olds Elementary School, effective this fall.

Ferris has been serving as a student services coordinator at the division level. In that role, he worked with school staff to help create calm, confident and connected learning environments that support students with diverse learning needs. He said he has enjoyed being part of many success stories.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with the students, staff and community to ensure EOES students feel valued, supported and challenged in their learning journey,” said Ferris. “Olds is a great community, and I feel blessed to be a part of it as principal of EOES.”

In his spare time, Ferris enjoys walking his dog, exploring new coffee shops and farmers’ markets, and spending time with his partner.

His favourite movie is Freedom Writers, based on The Freedom Writers Diary by Erin Gruwell and her students. Ferris said he appreciates the story because it “shows the power of inclusivity and relationship/connection in supporting all students, especially those who are at risk.”
