Two men have been arrested and charged for drug trafficking and weapons offences by Wetaskiwin RCMP.
On July 9, officers from the Wetaskiwin detachment observed known drug dealers leaving the city. The Wetaskiwin Crime Reduction Unit and General Investigation Section were alerted and began surveillance.
Police tracked the suspects to a residence in Thorsby and observed them interacting with an individual outside the home. A traffic stop was conducted shortly after, and both occupants were arrested.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 28 grams of suspected fentanyl and pepper spray.
As a result, 40-year-old Daniel Johnson of Wetaskiwin was charged with:

Possession for the purpose of trafficking

Failing to comply with release conditions (x3)

Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
The investigation continued the following day, July 10, when officers executed a search warrant at the Thorsby property. Police seized:

141 grams of fentanyl
-
6.4 grams of methamphetamine
-
1.5 grams of cocaine

Two rifles
Corey Robert David Landry, 37, of Edmonton was arrested and charged with:

Possession for the purpose of trafficking
-
Possession of property obtained by crime
-
Careless storage of a firearm
-
Possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order (x2)

Possession of a controlled substance (x2)
Both men were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin court on July 15.
