Wolf Creek Public Schools (WCPS) has announced the appointment of Malcolm Tisdale as the new Assistant Principal of École Lacombe Junior High School, starting in the 2025–26 school year.
Tisdale brings a strong background in education and leadership, with a focus on student engagement, school culture, and collaborative support.
He began his teaching career at St. Andrew’s School in High Prairie, where he taught Grades 4 to 12 physical education, junior high math and science, and served as Athletic Director.
In 2021, Tisdale joined Alix-MAC School, teaching physical education, math, science and social studies. He also took on leadership roles as Athletic Director and Career Counsellor, supporting students in course planning and post-secondary pathways.
“Malcolm’s leadership style is rooted in connection and collaboration,” said Sonja Dykslag, Assistant Superintendent of People Services. “He leads with energy, empathy, and a student-first mindset, and he brings a strong sense of purpose to every team he’s part of. We are thrilled to have him join the Lacombe Junior High leadership team.”
In September 2024, Tisdale was appointed Assistant Principal at Alix-MAC School. In that role, he led inclusion and program planning, coordinated educational assistants, managed student discipline and safety drills, and organized both athletic and academic recognition events.
Tisdale has also worked with local sponsors, hosted sports tournaments, and fostered a positive school culture through a servant-leadership approach.
He is currently completing his Master of Education in Educational Leadership through Yorkville University and holds certifications in SIVA and VTRA.
Now living in Lacombe, Tisdale said he’s excited to contribute to the school community.
“I am honoured to join the team at École Lacombe Junior High,” said Tisdale. “I’m passionate about creating safe, inclusive, and inspiring environments where students and staff feel supported to grow and succeed. I’m excited to build relationships and serve this incredible school community.”
With Tisdale’s appointment, WCPS is now accepting applications for the Assistant Principal position at Alix-MAC School.
