The 2025 Westerner Days Parade returns to downtown Red Deer tomorrow morning (July 16).
Floats, bands, dancers, and community groups will take over in as the annual Westerner Days Parade kicks off the festivities.
The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. and follows a circular route around the city core.
Residents can expect road closures, traffic delays, and transit reroutes.
The City of Red Deer says road closures are in place to accommodate high traffic volumes and ensure the safety of parade participants and spectators.
Closures will be strictly enforced for the duration of the parade.
All road closures and parking restrictions will be lifted as soon as possible after the parade, typically around 1 p.m.
Road closures include:

Spruce Drive at 43 Street: closes at 6 a.m. as the Pidherney Centre will serve as the parade staging area. Motorists will not be able to turn right onto 43 Street until after 1 p.m.

Ross Street westbound at 50A Street: closes at 7:45 a.m. Traffic will be diverted through Woodlea to 55 Street.

49 Avenue northbound at 45 Street: closes at 7:45 a.m. Use Taylor Drive or 55 Street to reconnect.

49 Street eastbound at 51 Avenue: closes at 7:45 a.m. Traffic will be diverted southbound onto 51 Avenue.
Barricades will be in place by 8:30 a.m. at:

47 Avenue at 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49 & 50 (Ross) Streets

49 Avenue at 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50 (Ross), 51, 52, 53 Streets

48 Avenue at 53 Street
Transit Service Changes:
The city is also advising that Red Deer Transit routes will be adjusted during the parade.

The last departure from Sorensen Station will be at 8:15 a.m.

After that, a temporary terminal will be set up on 52 Avenue between 47 Street and 48 Street.
Transit users are encouraged to check MyBus for updated schedules, real-time bus locations, and planning assistance.
Drivers are also advised to use the road closure map to plan ahead.
