As part of Monday’s City Council executive meeting, the monthly protective services report was delivered.

Inside of the Community Safety Officer’s report, property maintenance was a key issue in June. Following the May long weekend, numerous door knockers as well as orders on some of our repeat offender properties. Three orders that expired in the month of June required City intervention. This included garbage removal and yard maintenance at the properties.

13 conservations were held with homeowners/tenants along with an additional 35 door knockers and 4 more orders.

With the heat and rain in the area, the Community Safety Officer noted that everything is growing at an increased rate, conservations with residents followed by door knockers, and finally writing orders when necessary.

From the RCMP’s report, it was noted that during the Living Skies Music Festival held in Humboldt on June 28 and 29, they were prepared in advance with enough resources on shift during the weekend.  Humboldt RCMP was happy to say there were no reported incidents at the event.

The number of reported incidents (126) for June is down from the previous month (137) and up from June 2024 (103). There was also an increase in traffic charges for the month (13) compared to last month (9) and they are down from June 2024 (16).

Meanwhile, the Humboldt Fire Department responded to 12 incidents during the month, including a pair of commercial fire alarm responses, a residential fire alarm response, a semi rollover and a STARS landing.

The Fire Department also responded to a single motor vehicle collision and a dumpster fire.
