A Lacombe police officer has resigned following allegations of a fraudulent incident.
The station launched a Police Service Regulation investigation after receiving a report involving the officer. The officer was suspended from duty on July 3, pending the outcome of the investigation.
Due to the seriousness of the allegations, the matter has been reported to the Director of Law Enforcement, and the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has been called in to conduct an independent investigation.
Chief of Police Jason Dobirstein said the service takes allegations of this nature very seriously.
“We hold our members to the highest standards of integrity and professionalism,” said Dobirstein. “These allegations are isolated to the involved officer and are not related to operational, on-duty conduct.”
He added that the members and staff of the Lacombe Police Service remain strongly committed to its core values of honesty, integrity, and character.
As the matter is now under active investigation, no further information is being released. Updates will be provided by ASIRT as appropriate.
