Rural and Remote Health Minister Lori Carr will be making stops in East Central Saskatchewan as part of her continued summer tour of the province. Upcoming visits are scheduled in Nokomis, Wynyard, and Foam Lake, where she will meet with local leaders and health care staff and tour health facilities.
"It has been a wonderful opportunity to travel throughout the province over the past months and meet with dedicated health professionals in each community," said Minister Carr. "Our government remains committed to ensuring high-quality healthcare for residents close to home, and safe, modern facilities to attract the best healthcare professionals to this province."
The tour will also highlight the provincial government’s ongoing investments in rural health infrastructure. As part of its capital funding plan, $760,000 has been committed in the 2024-25 budget for roof repairs at Foam Lake Jubilee Home, with work scheduled for 2025-26. An additional $150,000 has been allocated this year to replace the facility’s air conditioning system.
In Nokomis, the Health Centre has recently undergone $281,000 in upgrades over the past three years. Improvements include a new kitchen HVAC exhaust system, new shingles, and a modern nurse call system.
Carr’s visits are part of the province’s broader effort to engage directly with rural communities and ensure continued improvements in health care access and infrastructure across Saskatchewan.
