After more than two decades of dedicated public service, Cochrane RCMP is bidding a fond farewell to one of its longest-serving team members.
Laurel McConnell, who spent the past 26 years working in various roles across Alberta and two provinces, will officially retire on July 30.
To mark the milestone, Chief Superintendent Wayne Nichols presented McConnell with a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of the Southern Alberta District and the Cochrane RCMP Detachment during a small ceremony on Wednesday.
“Laurel’s career reflects a deep passion for service and community, and she leaves behind a legacy of professionalism and dedication,” said Sgt. Vinnie Hetu.
Most recently, McConnell served as the Traffic Services Assistant with the Alberta RCMP Traffic – Cochrane Unit. Her career included more than a dozen different roles, showcasing her versatility and unwavering commitment to public safety.

McConnell’s contributions have not gone unnoticed, and the Cochrane RCMP extended their heartfelt congratulations on her retirement.
“On behalf of the entire detachment and the communities she served, we thank Laurel for her outstanding service and wish her all the best in this next chapter,” said Chief Superintendent Nichols.
