A spate of incidents, including impaired driving arrests, a stolen semi-truck, and an attempted quad escape, have kept Estevan Police busy this week.
On July 15, Estevan Police Service (EPS) responded to a report of a female found unconscious near the 7-11 on King Street. Officers determined she had been involved in a bicycle accident. A family member transported her to hospital for assessment.
EPS received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in a local business parking lot. Contact with the occupants revealed that an employee of the business had given permission for the vehicle to be there.
A traffic stop to check driver sobriety resulted in a female driver failing a roadside screening test. She was issued a three-day driver’s licence suspension and her vehicle was impounded.
Police attended a noise complaint at a residence where yelling was reported. Officers mediated the situation and no further issues were reported during the night shift.
During the night shift, police received a complaint of multiple assaults involving the same victim. The matter remains under investigation.
A suspicious person was reported in a backyard in the south end of Estevan. EPS made contact with individuals nearby, and the investigation is ongoing.
On July 16, EPS received a report of a stolen semi-truck and trailer believed taken between July 14 and 16 from a local business. The investigation is ongoing.
EPS attended a three-vehicle collision on Kensington Avenue in the late afternoon. No injuries were reported. One vehicle was not drivable and was towed from the scene.
During the night shift, two drivers were arrested for drug-impaired driving. Both received roadside driver’s licence suspensions and their vehicles were impounded.
Police also received a report of criminal harassment via text messaging. The investigation remains open.
Multiple reports of a male riding a quad in Churchill Park near the bike paths and pool area were received. EPS located the individual, who is known to police. Officers attempted to arrest him for impaired driving. During the arrest, the male tried to flee. Police Service Dog Max was deployed but was unable to make contact. The driver fled on the quad. Police did not pursue, but charges are pending once the individual is located.
