The bailing hearing for a 39-year-old facing firearms charges and sexual offences against minors has been pushed back. 

A publication ban is in place under section 486.4 of the criminal code for any information was could identify the victim(s). At this point, the man’s relationship with the victim(s) is unknown so his name will not be published at this time. 

Legal aid lawyer Suzanne Lalonde represented the man, who appeared in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on Thursday via video from the Regina Provincial Correctional Facility. 

Lalonde told the court that the bail hearing was supposed to take place but there was a “change” and she asked for an adjournment in order to speak to her client. 

The bail hearing was adjourned to Aug. 6. 

According to police, a search warrant was executed on Feb. 20 as part of a firearms investigation. Police seized a handgun, ammunition and electronic devices and the man was charged with multiple firearm charges. He was released from custody but failed to attend court and an arrest warrant was issued. 

Police searched several electronic devices and found child pornography. An investigation into the man was opened with the assistance of the Internet Child Exploitation Unit and additional warrants were issued. 

The man is facing the following charges: 

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose 
  • Assault with a weapon 
  • Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized 
  • Careless use of a firearm 
  • Possession of a weapon contrary to a weapon’s prohibition 
  • Failing to comply with an undertaking 
  • Making child pornography 
  • Sexual interference 
  • Invitation to sexual touching 
  • Sexual assault 
  • Accessing child pornography 
  • Possession of child pornography 
  • Arranging to commit a sexual offence against a child
