It was another successful run of the Estevan Chamber of Commerce's annual event, Networking on the Green, yesterday. The golf tournament featured 26 teams of golfers, battling it out at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club. It was all in an effort to bring businesses from Estevan and surrounding communities together to meet, network and collaborate over a round of golf.
"It was so much fun. I really like seeing a lot of our members. I got to know some more members and just to hear how business is going, and hear how things are going. It's just a very positive experience. In all honesty, it was a lot of fun," executive director for the Chamber, Merissa Scarlett, said.
This was Scarlett's first Networking on the Green since being hired for her role last fall. She said she enjoyed interacting with current members, as well as other businesses throughout the southeast.
"I think just going around and visiting all the sponsors, all the hole sponsors. So, there was a lot of a lot of our Members [that came] out and they do like hospitality holes. There's snacks, there's treats, [and] there's drinks as well. I think just going out and seeing what people were doing and the difference, the things they had was awesome. And it makes it fun for our golfers. So a huge thank you to all the hole sponsors for being there just to make it a really good day."

The money raised for the event, she said, goes into the Chamber's general fund, which goes towards planning future events for the group. She cited events like the free Lunch and Learns, educational workshops, and other programs offered by the Chamber.
Throughout the event, many businesses had conversations and pondered future collaborations. "The idea is to get out of the office [and] have a little bit of fun. Maybe it's with your colleagues, building some morale, or being at dinner and sitting with some different people that you may not have interacted with. And we're just hoping that people can make connections and have a good time. Hopefully, that leads to some cool collaborations in our city."
The team from Bear Claw Casino and Hotel won the tournament. A total of 96 golfers were on the course during the event.
