The U15B provincial softball championships wrapped up in Estevan this weekend, with the host team putting together a strong showing in front of a hometown crowd.
The Estevan Elite advanced to the playoff round as the top team in the Green Pool, earning a semifinal matchup against the Moose Jaw Ice. Despite a strong start, the Elite fell 14–6 to Moose Jaw, sending them into the bronze medal game.
Later that afternoon, Estevan faced off against the Yorkton Crush, who had lost their own semifinal against Swift Current. It was a close contest, but the Crush edged out a 9–6 win to claim bronze, leaving Estevan just off the podium in fourth place.
Moose Jaw went on to win gold, defeating the Swift Current Sonic 7–3 in the championship final.
While the Elite came up short of a medal, their performance capped off a proud weekend for the team and the city. The Estevan Minor Softball Association extended sincere thanks to all players, coaches, volunteers, families, and fans who helped make the tournament a success.
With full stands, close games, and a strong sense of community, the event was a home run for local sport.
