It was a split on Saturday for the 18U AAA East Central Red Sox against the Zone 7 Sun Devils.

The Red Sox won the first game 10-4. Cade Britz led the way at the plate with three hits and scored three runs.

Graydn Wilson opened the scoring with an RBI double in the first inning.

Zone 7 took the lead in the top of the third with a pair of runs. Jarrett Rude put the Red Sox back in front with an RBI single in the bottom of the third.

After scoring two runs in the fourth, East Central put the game out of reach with five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning with five runs. Jacob Trann, Luke Manz and Carter Huls each had an RBI single.

Pryor Dyck got the win on the mound, pitching five innings, allowing two runs on four hits. He also had six strikeouts.

In the second game, the Sun Devils held off a Red Sox comeback to win 10-9.

It was another strong game at the plate for Britz, with four hits, three runs scored, and two RBIs.

The Red Sox were leading 4-2 after the second inning, but the Sun Devils rattled off two runs in the third and another five runs in the fourth.

Zone 7 held a 10-6 advantage before the Red Sox scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. But that was as close East Central would get as they couldn’t tie it up in the seventh.

East Central will finish the regular season with an 18-14 record.

They begin provincials on Thursday in Saskatoon with a matchup against the Sask Five Marlins.
