The southeast will have to hold on tight once again as we're seeing another system come through tonight following a pair of thunderstorms over the weekend. Environment and Climate Change Canada is tracking the system, set to hit us starting overnight and lasting into the day.
Meteorologist Crawford Luke takes a look at what we can expect.
"Definitely looks like tonight, maybe after midnight, would be the highest risk or the time for the highest chance of a thunderstorm and then again tomorrow. Tonight, it looks like it could be coming in from the states and could be a chance for some severe thunderstorms again with this. The biggest threat would probably be the large hail, you know, three or four centimetres in diameter. But could also be seeing some damaging winds and some more heavy rain from this as well."
After the midnight storm and hail, we could have a small break before Luke says another round of hail hits us tomorrow evening.
"Tomorrow, another round of thunderstorms is possible in the afternoon and evening. Might be more of a Manitoba problem, but we could see a few in southeast Saskatchewan before they make their way east. Then it looks like on Wednesday, we'll finally get a break in the southeast from thunderstorms."
That break will come with cooler temperatures that won't stick around, with 30-degree temperatures expected by the end of the week.
Luke cautions people to keep an eye on the skies and their forecast, as it's likely a thunderstorm watch will be put out.
"I would say it's very possible we could see a severe thunderstorm watch. Again, it looks like it's going to be kind of after midnight tonight. So I don't know when the watch might not come out till this evening or later, but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw one for sure."
The weekend's rain brought around 18 millimetres to the area, and another shot of moisture would be well appreciated for the numerous farmers who've had a dry summer so far.
