The Saskatchewan Oil & Gas Show will be held on June 3rd and 4th of 2026, and nominations have now opened up for the two prestigious awards presented during the event.
The ‘Laurence M. Woodard’ Southeast Saskatchewan Oil Person of the Year Award honours someone who has made a significant recent contribution to the growth and success of the oil and gas industry in Southeast Saskatchewan. Nominees must be currently active in the region and recognized for their leadership, innovation, and impact on the industry.
Past recipients of this award include Ryan Birnie (2024), Derrick Big Eagle (2022), John Kmita (2009), Ken Cugnet (2007), and Norman Mondor (2001).
The Southeast Saskatchewan Legends Award is a lifetime achievement award recognizing those who have dedicated at least 25 years to the oil and gas sector, with the majority of their career spent in Southeast Saskatchewan. Recipients will be known for their lasting contributions not only to the industry but also to regional associations and the local community.
The 2024 recipients of this award were Darcy Cretin, Dean Gilliss, Dean Lemieux, James Baker, Jim Larter, and Paul Cheung.
The Weyburn Oil Show Board considers these to be Southeast Saskatchewan’s most prestigious oil and gas industry recognitions, both of which celebrate excellence, leadership, and dedication in a sector that plays a vital role in the economic strength of Southeast Saskatchewan.

The Saskatchewan Oil & Gas Show is held every other year in Weyburn, bringing together thousands of people working in the industry. Tickets for the 2026 Saskatchewan Oil & Gas Show will be available in early spring of 2026.
