There are only a few days left to view some mini marvels at the Blackfalds Library.
The Blackfalds Servus Credit Union Public Library has been displaying its “Mini Canvas Art Show” since July 18.
Children of all ages and adults were able to register for the fun program and get a little canvas from library staff to create their own artwork.
Participants took home their canvas and were able to let their imaginations run wild, creating anything they wanted, in any style, with any medium.
“It’s I think our third year, we've definitely done it for the last couple years, and I think this year's been the most successful,” says Kelly McKee, community outreach coordinator at the Blackfalds Servus Credit Union Public Library.
More than 20 little pieces of art are set up at the library on top of a bookshelf to be viewed and voted on.
Now, with only a few days left to vote, it’s getting close to finding out which little artist will be declared the viewers’ favourite.
“It's really incredible to see what they can think up and kind of see how they do over the years because some people have also re-registered this year,” says McKee about the program.
The artwork is on display until the end of day Thursday, July 24, so there is still time to vote, and then the winner will be contacted on Saturday, July 26.
“There's a lot of cool, like, programs you'll see different libraries do that if there's success there, lots of other library's kind of, like, do the same thing. You're not reinventing the wheel, but sometimes you come up with cool stuff and other people want to do it as well,” says McKee about the successful "Mini Canvas Art Show" program.
With so many other programs and events happening at the library this summer, McKee says that they already have waiting lists for some events.
“If people are interested in a program and they see that its registration required, if it says full then we could put you on a waitlist. If it says there's still open availabilities, give us a call, come in, join in,” she says.
