A standout offensive lineman from Swift Current continues to rack up team accolades on the gridiron.

Chase Auseth suited up for Team Saskatchewan as the starting right tackle at the U17 Western Challenge in Kelowna, B.C., from July 6-11.

The soon-to-be grade 11 student at the Swift Current Comprehensive High School helped lead his hometown province to a gold medal, his second Western Canada championship in two years after capturing gold at the U16 Western Challenge Cup in 2024.

"It means a lot just representing Saskatchewan and Swift Current," he said.

Team Saskatchewan knocked off host British Columbia 22-10 in their first game of the tournament and beat Alberta in the finals 28-17 to claim the U17 Western Challenge championship.

"Everytime we do something like this, it's just a great experience for anyone doing it," he said.

The experience on the field transfered off the field for Auseth, as he was highly complimentary of the trip to B.C.

"It was really nice weather, can't really go wrong in B.C., it's about as nice as you can get out here," he said. "The university dorm was super nice and the campus was beautiful. It was a great experience, great coaching, and made some new friends."
