Families will be flooding into Lacombe this weekend as the 13U AA baseball provincials take over Michener Park.

Four teams from across Central Alberta will compete for the provincial title, with the Lacombe Dodgers 13U AA White squad looking to win it all on home turf.

Lacombe is no stranger to hosting baseball events, with a strong track record of welcoming provincial competition.

“We have some of the best baseball diamonds in Central Alberta,” said Shannon Bruns, president of Lacombe Minor Baseball and head coach of the AA team.

“Our Lacombe Minor Baseball AA programs have hosted provincials almost every year for the past four seasons.”

The Dodgers will play all their games on Diamond 11, with their opening matchup against the Slave Lake Heat at 6 p.m. Friday —right after the opening ceremonies.

Fans are encouraged to come out at 4:30 to watch the game warm-up and get prepared for some blistering baseball action. There will be a food truck on-site and the ceremonial first pitch will feature members of the Dodgers 15U team.

The Dodgers are no strangers to success, having claimed the provincial crown in Chestermere back in 2023.
