An Estevan athlete is representing Canada on the world stage this weekend at the Junior Roller Derby World Cup in Brisbane, Australia.
Cecilia McCaskill, known on the track as Fireball, is competing as part of Team Canada. Their tournament opener is set for Friday against the United Kingdom. The game gets underway at 7:00 p.m. Saskatchewan time and will be streamed live and free on YouTube through the Junior Roller Derby Association.
The international tournament features teams from around the world with games running throughout the weekend. One of the biggest matchups for Canada will come on Sunday when they take on Team USA at 4:45 p.m. Saskatchewan time.
The event marks a major milestone for junior athletes and a proud moment for Estevan's growing roller derby community.
