Residents in the Village of Clive can now drive golf carts on public roads as part of a recently approved pilot project.

To operate a golf cart legally, residents must first obtain an operator’s permit. Drivers must be at least 14 years old and hold a minimum Class 7 (Learner’s) driver’s licence.

Golf carts are only allowed on public roads from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. They may not carry more passengers than the number of available seats, and towing vehicles or equipment is prohibited. Golf carts are only permitted on village roads from April 1 to Nov. 30.

Annual permits are required under the village’s bylaw. Operators must carry the permit at all times while driving, maintain at least $2 million in liability insurance and show proof of coverage when registering.

More information and registration details are available on the Village of Clive website.
