Team Canada competed with determination and skill at the 2025 Junior Roller Derby World Cup, held July 26 to 28 at Mount Warren Sports Centre in Queensland, Australia.

Among the team was Estevan’s own Cecilia McCaskill, representing the Southeast on the international stage.

Playing in the Open Division, Canada showed strong teamwork and fast-paced action in a series of exciting matches.

The weekend kicked off with a handful of 30-minute pool matches for Team Canada on Saturday. The United Kingdom's team clobbered Canada, ending the match with a 202-96 win. It was another heartbreaking result later for the red-and-white, as Team France demolished them with a 230-19 result. Canada faced the host team not long after that, and the matchup was even closer. Though Team Canada found their groove, they still lost to Australia 196-107. They wouldn't see their first win until they met with Team Belgium. Canada walked away with a 197-69 win.

Sunday saw full-length matches, as Team Canada earned their place in the finals. Team USA would defeat Canada with a 263-82 result. They've been a force to be reckoned with throughout the tournament, with large gaps in scoring for every team the United States have faced. Team Canada faced hosts Team Australia once again for a full game. Canada still held their own, but the Aussies still got the best of them with a score of 276-251.

Heading into the finals, Team Canada was set to play Team Belgium. However, due to injuries, Belgium had to forfeit. In their place, a handful of players from Canada, the USA and France formed a new team to play called Team Friends. Canada would still fall to the new team with a 288-149 result. They finished fifth in the entire tournament.

Team USA take the gold after defeating France 429-211. UK would take third place after defeating Team Australia.
