Redwood Meadows Emergency Services (RMES) Fire Chief Rob Evans is urging townsite residents to limit their water use to help preserve resources for emergency situations, especially firefighting.

“By reducing daily water use, you're helping to ensure there's enough available for critical situations,” said Evans. “Our fire trucks carry 4,300 imperial gallons, but having the ability to refill quickly during an emergency can make a real difference.”

Rocky View County (RVC) has ramped up efforts to manage high-flow conditions impacting Bragg Creek’s wastewater system. Inflow volumes continue to exceed the treatment plant’s capacity, despite recent improvements.

On-site inspections of E1 lift stations in Bragg Creek that began yesterday continue today to help identify the source of the excess water.

The county is asking residents to continue conserving water to assist with the effort. Officials say community efforts have slightly reduced inflows, but volumes remain well above the system’s design capacity.

Drinking water is not affected by the issue.

While RMES has backup options—such as drawing from the river or calling in support from Tsuut’ina Nation, Rocky View County, Cochrane, and Foothills County—those measures take time to coordinate.

Evans says water conservation now can ensure a faster, more effective firefighting response if needed.

UPDATE: Bragg Creek wasn't the only community in the area facing water issues.

Late this morning, the Redwood Meadows townsite informed residents that the pumps at the water treatment plant had failed. It was unable to draw water from the river and was operating on the reserve tank. It asked residents to stop all water usage until the pumps were operational.
