Crews have restored partial water service in the Redwood Meadows townsite after getting one of two pumps at the water treatment plant operational.

"We ask that residents continue to reduce your water usage until we are able to get the required parts for the second pump," officials told residents in the last update late yesterday afternoon. "Once the second pump is operational, we will be able to rebuild the water volume in the reserve tank."

The issue began yesterday morning, when the townsite was notified of a dual pump failure at its water treatment facility. The malfunction prevented water from being drawn from the river, leaving the system to rely solely on reserve supplies. Residents were initially asked to reduce usage, but within an hour were told to halt all water use to allow crews time to assess the situation.

Water pressure has since been stabilized at 30 PSI, but officials are urging residents to continue conserving water until full capacity is restored.

Non-essential water use — including laundry — should be avoided while the town awaits delivery of replacement parts needed to repair the second pump. Once both pumps are online, the system will begin to rebuild reserves in the town’s water storage tank.

Another update is expected later today. In the meantime, residents are encouraged to spread the word to neighbours and sign up for emergency notifications.
