The Saskatchewan Public Safety agency held an update on the province’s wildfire situation and as of 1:30 p.m. on July 30, 2025, there are 57 active wildfires burning in the province. The year-to-date is 406 fires, well above the five-year average of 333 at this time.
Steve Roberts is the Vice President of Operations for the SPSA and says they are receiving wide support from local firefighters, 15 structural fire departments as well as support from Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Mexico and Australia.
Roberts says there aren’t many changes to most of the wildfires since their last briefing, but they have been very successful with the Muskeg Fire in the southern part of the town, which means some residents who do not have health conditions are returning to Beauval. He says that while the Muskeg Fire isn’t as much of a risk in Beauval, another community is being impacted by it. “At the other end of the fire, the far eastern side is now impacting near the town of Pinehouse, and that community will now be going under an evacuation order as of today.”
While the SPSA say they have not seen any more values lost, the long-term forecast is not on their side with no rain expected, along with +30-degree temperatures and strong winds.
The provincial fire ban will remain in effect until further notice.
