A new community art initiative is winding its way through Sylvan Lake as residents are invited to help name a growing “rock snake” set to be displayed at the Health and Wellness Healing Hub on Neighbour Day (August 17).
The colourful rock snake, made up of painted stones contributed by local residents, is part of an effort to bring creativity and connection to the community.
With the project officially underway, the Town is calling on residents to help give the snake an identity by submitting name suggestions.
Submissions for names are open until August 8, with the winning entry getting a gift basket.
How to Participate:
-
Name the Snake: Submit your name idea online before August 8.
-
Paint a Rock: Drop off painted rocks between now and August 17 at the Wellness and Community Connections Centre (4725 43 Street).
-
After August 18, rocks can be delivered directly to the Health and Wellness Healing Hub.
-
Join the Celebration: The completed rock snake will be unveiled on Neighbour Day, August 17, during a community event at the Healing Hub.
Organizers say the project encourages people of all ages to take part in something fun and meaningful.
“It’s a small gesture with a big impact — a way to brighten the space and bring people together.”
