Emergency crews were called to Kenosee Lake on the evening of July 29 following a report of a capsized inflatable tube drifting near the main beach.

According to a public post from Carlyle and RM #63 Fire & Rescue, the call came in at 6:37 p.m., with concerns that someone may have been using the tube before it overturned. However, the caller was unable to confirm whether the inflatable had been occupied.

A coordinated response was launched involving multiple agencies. Carlyle and RM #63 Fire & Rescue dispatched three units, Carlyle RCMP sent two units, Saskatchewan Environment provided a boat unit, and Supreme Ambulance also responded.

Crews boarded three boats and conducted a thorough search of the lake. The overturned tube was located, but fortunately, no individuals were found in the water, and no injuries were reported.

In their Facebook post, Carlyle and RM #63 Fire & Rescue reminded the public to secure inflatables when not in use.

“If you are storing your tubes or other inflatables on shore, please ensure they are properly tied to something solid like a dock or removed from the water,” the department stated. “These events require a large number of agencies to respond.”

Emergency services stress the importance of lake safety and prevention to avoid unnecessary risks and resource deployment in the future.
