Alberta falls short in U19 women’s baseball championship opener

Alberta dropped a nail-biter to Manitoba in its opening game at the U19 Women’s National Baseball Championship on Thursday.

The high-scoring affair saw Manitoba come out on top 16–15 in a back-and-forth contest that went down to the wire.

Team Alberta will look to bounce back this afternoon when they take on Newfoundland and Labrador.

Among those competing for Alberta is Cochrane’s Maeve Maguire, who plays infield.

The national championship brings together top U19 women’s baseball talent from across the country.
