The Tees Rodeo is celebrating its 50th anniversary this August long weekend with three days of rodeo action, music, and family fun at the Tees Rodeo Grounds.
Starting today (August 1) until Sunday, the milestone event is part of the Central Alberta Rodeo Association (CARA) circuit.
Festivities kick off tonight at 5 p.m. with slack events, followed by performances on Saturday and Sunday starting at noon.
This year’s lineup includes crowd favourites like bull riding, barrel racing, saddlebronc, and team roping for senior competitors, along with junior events like steer riding and breakaway roping.
Also returning are the fan-favourite events including Mutton Bustin’, Tiny Mite Goat Tail Tying, the Pony Express, stock horse and relay races—highlighting the fun and tradition that have made the Tees Rodeo a summer staple for half a century.
Evening entertainment and extras
Evening entertainment is set to keep the celebration going all weekend.
The Whiskey Stagger Band takes the stage Friday night, followed by Mike & the Boys on Saturday—both shows are $5 at the door and 18+.
A family-friendly DJ dance will cap off the weekend on Sunday night with no admission fee.
The rodeo grounds will also feature food concessions, beer gardens, and free dry camping all weekend.
On Sunday morning, rodeo-goers are invited to attend Cowboy Church and enjoy a pancake breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Admission and CARA finals
Gate admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. (Contestants also pay gate admission)
The next rodeo on the circuit will take place in Alix on August 15 and 16, with the CARA finals in Rimbey on September 6–7.
