The world’s top young waterskiers, including Bragg Creek's Megan Pelkey, have descended on southern Alberta for the 2025 IWWF World U21 Waterski Championships, now underway at the scenic Predator Bay Water Ski Club, just south of Calgary.

The first finals of the tournament are set for Saturday afternoon, capping off two days of thrilling preliminary rounds that have seen elite athletes push the limits in slalom, trick, and jump events.

Known for combining speed, strength and acrobatic flair, water skiing's top contenders have delivered electrifying performances on the water — from soaring jumps that launch skiers the length of a football field, to razor-sharp slalom runs and trick routines packed with flips and spins.

Today features the conclusion of the men’s jump preliminaries and the highly anticipated trick finals in both the men’s and women’s divisions.

RELATED STORY

Team Canada has emerged as a strong force on home water, qualifying seven athletes for the finals across multiple events.

Nova Scotia’s Olivia Chute heads into the women’s trick finals in second place, while Quebec’s Hannah Stopnicki sits close behind in third. In the men’s trick event, Jake Chambers of British Columbia turned heads with an early standout performance, awaiting confirmation of his finals placement after a competitive preliminary round.

Sunday’s schedule promises more action, as the slalom and jump finals will determine the individual world champions — as well as the coveted overall and team titles.

As the international field of athletes battles for gold, all eyes are on who will be crowned world champions and which nation will emerge with the team overall title.

Bragg Creek's Megan Pelkey, two-time Jr. Masters Overall Champion, is one of 12 talented athletes representing Canada in the slalom, trick, and jump events.

Her individual scores will contribute to the overall competition.
