Team Canada secured second place overall at the 2025 IWWF World U21 Waterski Championships, which wrapped up Sunday at Predator Bay Water Ski Club south of Calgary.

The host nation was one of 22 countries competing at the event, held July 31 to Aug. 3, and brought a 12-skier roster. Six of those athletes contributed to the silver medal team finish, placing behind the United States and ahead of Austria.

Canada also brought home three individual medals. Quebec’s Hannah Stopnicki captured gold in women’s trick, while Ontario’s Charlie Ross repeated as U21 world champion in men’s slalom, tying the U21 world record in the final.

Quebec’s Nellie Allard added a bronze in women’s jump. Allard also placed fifth in the overall standings. Bragg Creek's Megan Pelkey finished 11th in the women's jump final.

Kate Pinsonneault (B.C.) and Olivia Chute (N.S.) also reached the women’s slalom final, with Chute adding a fourth-place finish in women’s trick.

In men’s slalom, Ross was joined in the finals by Alberta’s Evan Kraus, who improved his score to tie for fourth. B.C.'s Jake Chambers reached the finals in men’s trick and landed a new trick in his final pass.

Pinsonneault placed seventh in overall standings, contributing to Canada’s team result along with Allard, Stopnicki, Ross, Chute, and Jake Chambers.

The 2025 event marked Canada’s return to the podium in the U21 team standings, and was highlighted by strong performances across all three disciplines.
