The Lacombe Police Service is asking for the public’s help identifying the driver of a white Chevrolet Silverado who allegedly blinded an officer with a floodlight and attempted to cause an intentional head-on collision early on the morning of Aug. 4.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., a Lacombe police officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the truck. The driver responded by pulling out a handheld floodlight and deliberately blinding the officer through the driver’s side window.

The suspect then drove away at high speed, preventing the officer from obtaining a licence plate number. As the vehicle fled eastbound on Highway 12, it veered into the path of an oncoming police vehicle, appearing to intentionally attempt a head-on collision. The suspect vehicle was last seen turning northbound onto 53rd Street.

Your assistance is vital in helping us hold this person accountable and prevent further danger to our community.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lacombe Police Service at 403-782-3279 or their local police detachment. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.p3tips.com.
