The City of Grande Prairie is inviting prospective candidates to attend the final information event in its two-part series designed to support those considering a run for municipal office in the 2025 Municipal Election. This session is designed to provide information about the municipal budget and the responsibilities of elected officials in the budget approval process.
Session Two: Introduction to Municipal Budgeting
This free, in-person learning opportunity takes place on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will focus on the fundamentals of municipal finance. Attendees will gain insight into how City budgets are developed and approved, the role of elected officials in financial decision-making, and the key principles that guide the City’s budget framework.
This final event offers a valuable opportunity for prospective candidates to engage with senior City officials, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the path to municipal leadership.
