The Sylvan Lake Gulls would like to announce a change in the role Jason Chatwood will play within our organization.
Jason has served as our first-ever head coach since March 2020 and has led our on-field team since our inaugural season in 2021.
We added the title of general manager in 2022, and since then he has managed our baseball operations, including player recruitment. Jason is a key reason the Gulls have been competitive from the very beginning. Under Coach Chatwood’s leadership, the Gulls have won 178 regular-season games and another seven playoff contests.
We appreciate everything he has done in the early years of our franchise — not only winning baseball games on the field, but helping to build our culture, representing us in the community, and mentoring the young men who have come through Sylvan Lake over the past five years.
Jason will step down as head coach at the end of this season. However, he will remain with the organization as general manager of baseball operations, continuing to lead recruiting efforts and staying on as an associate coach. The Gulls organization would like to thank his wife, Heather, and their two boys for supporting Jason during his many hours of dedication as head coach.
We fully respect Jason’s decision to spend more time with his family — it’s a testament to the quality of his character. We’re grateful to retain him in our organization for the foreseeable future. A new head coach will be announced shortly after the season.
