One final piece of equipment will be added to the Lanigan & District Waterpark this week with the installation of the Water Accessible Wheelchair.
Long Lake Insurance will be sponsoring the Water Accessible Wheelchair.
To help commemorate the completion of the waterpark’s equipment, there will be a pool party on Thursday afternoon which will include free public swimming throughout the afternoon.
Lanigan Pool Manager Trysten Hyra says the water accessible wheelchair will be a welcome addition for the community.
“A lot of elderly people in our community who have trouble getting up and down stairs and getting into like our zero-beach entry,” she says.
“So being able to use this water wheelchair will be able to help them enjoy time with their grandkids and everyone else.”
Thursday’s celebrations will serve as a thank you to the community for making the new pool in Lanigan a reality and also to Long Lake Insurance for sponsoring the water accessible wheelchair.
Hyra says that it’s been a busy year at the waterpark.
“It's been on and off sometimes. Like it's sometimes when it's raining, it's not super busy, but when it's very nice, it's pretty busy and you know it's good to get out and enjoy the pool and cool off.”
The public swimming begins at 12:00 pm.
Other activities planned for Thursday’s Pool Party include a diving competition at 1:00 pm, a dive for treasure at 2:00 pm, an official presentation of the water accessible wheelchair at 3:00 pm, and a water balloon toss beginning at 3:30. There will also be cornhole, connect four and a ping pong run.
Lanigan Co-operative Daycare will be on hand with a fundraising barbecue and 50/50. The barbecue is free, but the Lanigan Co-Operative Daycare will be accepting donations.
