Saskatchewan Open Farm Days runs August 9th and 10th, and is organized by Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan.
Event Coordinator Ashley Stone says agriculture is one of the biggest industries in the province, and the overall goal is to bring people together to get a better idea about life on the farm and where our food comes from.
She notes this year they have 34 hosts participating from across the province.
"Hosts have opened their gates across the province from Val Marie up to Spiritwood and Lloydminster over to Moosomin. There's farms and businesses across the province related to agriculture that are ready to tell their story and for you to come and check out what they're doing at the farm. So every host has something free to you."
Participants will have a chance to visit a wide range of farms focusing on everything from crop production and livestock, to fruit and vegetables, cheese, honey and hops.
This marks the second year for the event; Stone says they had a tremendous response last year, with host farms happy to share information and the general public eager to learn more about agriculture.
This year, you can take a self-guided tour using the suggested itineraries on the website, or on Saturday, August 9th, you can take a bus from Regina, Saskatoon, and Moose Jaw to some pre-determined stops that all feature something different.
Some of the suggested itineraries focus on Regina and area, the Southwest, Saskatoon and area and a sipping tour focusing on wines and craft beer being developed in the province.
