Two people are facing charges after Estevan police executed a search warrant at a hotel in the city’s northeast as part of a drug trafficking investigation.
On Aug. 1, members of the Estevan Police Service Drug Intelligence Unit and Criminal Investigation Unit conducted the search under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Police say they seized approximately $5,000 in cash and cocaine with an estimated street value of more than $5,000.
Geoffrey Hirst, 35, and Trisha Coulter, 36, have been charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of proceeds of crime not exceeding $5,000.
Hirst is also charged with public mischief after allegedly providing false information to police during an incident on July 31, which led to the deployment of the Joint Tactical Support Team to the 1100 block of Third Street. Police say the report of firearms was unfounded.
Both Hirst and Coulter were remanded into custody and appeared in court earlier this week.
