The Dr. Mainprize Park Foundation will host the Million Dollar Par Three Golf Tournament on September 13th at Mainprize Regional Park.

President Brandon Rosengren said last year's event was a huge success.

"We had about 300 people turn out for that, and we raised, I think, $47,000. So we're hoping to beat that this year, and we want to have around 350 to 400 people attend."

The funds were put to good use, he noted, including purchasing and installing new picnic tables on the beach, fountains at the golf course, as well as an $8,000 contribution toward a new sand rake at the golf course.

Rosengren said this golf tournament is just a fun event and not for serious golfers.

"Every hole has prize money on it for closest shot or longest shot, and then this year we're again obviously doing the million dollar shootout at the end of the day where anyone that had the close approach on each hole is entered automatically and then there'll be 10 shots that we're selling at the event for anyone that wants to kind of try to luck at the million dollar shot."

A Jackpot Chip-off will be a new addition to the second annual event this year.

"We're going to have a 100-yard shot on hole 18 at the end of the night. There'll be two prizes. First place will be $800, and second place will be $400, and that's just a straight chip-off. We're going to sell 28 shots, and winner takes all, first and second."

Registration is now open for the tournament and the supper.

"Typically, the golf sells out pretty early. So anyone that wants to get registered should register early. The money is going to good causes."
