On Wednesday (August 13) at approximately 2:30 p.m., Maskwacis RCMP were dispatched to a firearms complaint at a residence on Louis Bull First Nation.

EMS also responded and upon arrival, a male was located deceased. 

Southern Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and an autopsy occurred on Friday (August 15) at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner Office in Edmonton and the cause of death was deemed to be a homicide. 

Southern Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has charged Ashton Deschamps, a 20-year-old resident of Louis Bull First Nation with Second-Degree Murder. 

The Alberta RCMP is seeking the public's assistance in providing any information to Deschamps's whereabouts.

The public should not approach Deschamps and exercise extreme caution if he is seen or located.

Deschamps has associations to the communities of Maskwacis, Edmonton and North Battleford, Saskatchewan.
