A Kindersley woman has been handed a conditional sentence order after pleading guilty to drug trafficking charges.
Amanda Watson pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
She was sentenced to a two-year conditional sentence order to be served in the community, followed by 15 months of probation. Her sentence includes a 24-hour curfew for the first nine months, a nightly curfew from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. after that, counselling and addictions treatment, 50 hours of community service, and a 10-year firearms prohibition. She must also pay $600 in victim surcharges.
"The activity you were involved in is absolutely illegal," the judge said before handing down the sentence. "The Supreme Court has pointed out that 80 per cent of criminal activity is related to drugs. You were bringing people who were presumably addicted or wanting to obtain drugs into a residential community, which is not safe for any community."
Her husband, Cameron Watson, was also charged in connection with the same investigation. He pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and was sentenced to a 20-month conditional sentence order, which includes a 24-hour curfew and a $200 victim surcharge.
The charges stemmed from two separate investigations.
