Kindersley court sees firearms and threat charges, multiple case adjournments

A farmer from southwest Kerrobert has pleaded guilty in Kindersley Court on September 9, to attempting to possess a prohibited device under the Saskatchewan Firearms Act.

Court heard the man tried to purchase a suppressor for a rifle he used on his farm to protect his dog from coyotes. The device was intercepted by the RCMP before it reached him.

He was sentenced under the Firearms Act’s alternative sentencing program. As part of his sentence, he must retake the Canadian Firearms Safety Course and pay $500 to the Saskatoon Wildlife Federation.

Kindersley court sets trial date, fines handed down in multiple cases

Several cases were heard at Kindersley provincial court this week, resulting in guilty pleas, fines and adjournments.

Tanner Anderson pleaded guilty to impaired driving in connection with a February 2025 incident. RCMP found Anderson’s vehicle in a ditch off Highway 7 and recorded his blood-alcohol level at 0.150. He was fined $1,950 and handed a one-year driving prohibition.

In a separate matter, Linder entered a guilty plea to a charge of uttering threats to cause bodily harm involving two individuals. His sentencing has been adjourned until Sept. 9.

Kindersley Court hears sexual assault sentencing, other local cases

Kindersley Provincial Court heard several cases on Aug. 12.

Brandon Wasylenchuk pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault. Due to the sensitive nature of the charge, no facts were read aloud in court. The Crown and defence presented a joint sentencing submission, which the judge accepted.

Raelene Buchacher, who is charged with fraud and failing to appear in court, has had a trial date set for Oct. 7.

Amanda Watson had her sentencing adjourned to Aug. 19. Her defence lawyer told the court they are preparing to enter guilty pleas.

Brandon Wasylenchuk’s case was adjourned to Aug. 12 for sentencing. He faces a charge of sexual assault, and the Crown and defence are expected to present a joint submission.

Kindersley court hands down conditional sentence for driving offence

A man who was scheduled to stand trial in Kindersley Court on Monday has instead pleaded guilty after Crown and defence reached a plea agreement.

Ryan Halter pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while prohibited, stemming from a previous driving prohibition imposed by the same court in July 2023.

Halter received a 12-month conditional sentence order, which includes a mandatory curfew and a requirement to undergo treatment at a drug rehabilitation facility, either in- or out-patient. He was also prohibited from driving for three years and ordered to pay a $100 surcharge.
