The skies came alive overnight in Swift Current, with winds reaching up to 90 kilometers per hour in certain areas.

Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologist Crawford Luke says this might not be the last of the summer storm season.

"Looks like the main action should shift a bit further east," says Luke. "But we could still see some more thunderstorms later today, this evening, and even tonight."

Precipitation was minimal, with trace amounts between 1 and 5 millimetres in Swift Current and the surrounding area.

In terms of a forecast in the coming weeks, Luke says summer isn't going away any time soon

"So a lot of kind of warm sunny days and some cooler, crisp nights," he says.  "So [it] might feel like September is coming, but I think there's still some beautiful days".

Gusty conditions have produced some areas of wind damage. Resident Curtis Akre has a fallen tree close to his house

To report damage from the wind, Luke says the best way to do so is either by e-mail at skstorm@ec.gc.ca or on X using the hashtag #skstorm.
