A southwest woman recently pleaded guilty to duo of charges stemming from two separate incidents in Swift Current.
Natasha Braun appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court on Wednesday morning, where she pleaded guilty to and was sentenced on one count of theft under $5,000 as well as one count of breach of probation.
The resident of Swift Current was handed a global four-month suspended sentence, which included twenty hours of community service to be completed by November 28 this year and a standalone restitution order of $550.
Braun's defence counsel highlighted that in the past, nerve damage led Braun to become addicted to drugs, which negatively impacted multiple areas of her life.
Additionally, the victim fine surcharge was waived to avoid undue financial hardship.
Shortly after noon on March 13, the accused was caught stealing around $540 worth of groceries from a local business alongside an unknown female before leaving by taxi.
The second charge came from a breach of a probation order, in which Braun failed to pay the amount of $550 in restitution to the West Wind Motel from a past incident.
