Severe storm approaching Swift Current with warning issued

A severe thunderstorm watch has been put in place for Swift Current and the area.

Reports of storms moving east have already shown signs of extreme winds, hail, and damage to power lines.

The storms approaching Swift Current are a result of a ridge of low-pressure air moving in from Alberta. 

People are not only being warned that the wind is capable of destroying roofs, fences and branches, but that fast-moving water may cause flash flooding. 

Locals are asked to remain in their homes and to avoid travelling if possible.
