Professional wrestling was back in action in Swift Current on Wednesday.
Canadian Wrestling’s Elite came to the Lieutenant Colonel Clifton Centre for day 7 of their Cruel Summer Tour, featuring former WWE superstar “The” Brian Kendrick.
Kendrick says he’s been enjoying touring across Western Canada.
“It's physically tasking, you know,” says Kendrick. “It's hard work. You have to be mentally tough, but I like the challenge of it.”
Kendrick, a former Ring of Honor and Total Nonstop Action wrestling performer, won the WWE Tag Team Championships with fellow performer Paul London in May of 2006, as well as the WWE Cruiserweight Championship in October 2016.
The main event was an 8-man tag-team elimination match, with the team of Kendrick, “The Zombie Killer” Mentallo, “Crude Oil” Cody Mac, and “The Pissed-Off Pitbull” Robby Royce emerging as the victors.
In terms of next steps for Kendrick, he says he'll be continuing on the independent wrestling circuit, defending his WildKat Heavyweight Championship with WildKat Pro Wrestling in New Orleans on September 6
"I've just been chasing wherever the wrestling is," Kendrick says. "I just like the experience in general."
The CWE will return to Swift Current on November 21 for their Rumble to Remember Tour, featuring an over-the-top-rope Battle Royal as the main event.
