The City of Swift Current and SaskTel have entered into another aerial use agreement.

The City and SaskTel will be able to share 'power pole' structures, which the City owns. This enables SaskPower to connect its infrastructure to these poles, preventing the need to double up on them.

Dan Martin, acting director of light and power for the City of Swift Current.

"The City owns many power poles," said Martin. "To promote economic efficiency and reduce unnecessary duplication of infrastructure, the City, more or less, rents space out on those poles to interested telecommunications."

The annual fee being paid by SaskTel is $26.68 per pole in 2025. This rate is industry standard.

This fee helps generate revenue that aids in the cost of maintaining and replacing these poles.
