Who's running in the Chestermere municipal election?

The nomination period for Chestermere's upcoming municipal election ends in a month.

Since nominations opened on Jan. 1, five residents have placed their bid to run - four running for council, and one running for mayor.

The sole mayoral candidate is Shannon Dean, the current mayor of Chestermere. Dean was first elected in 2024 during a byelection.

As for councillor candidates, there are three running who are currently serving on council - Kiran Randhawa, Ritesh Narayan, and Janelle Sandboe.

There is also one candidate, Kiran Gill, who is running as a newcomer to council.

During the election, residents will have the choice to vote for one mayor and six councillors. 

Election day takes place on Oct. 20, with advance voting kicking off on Oct. 11.
