Rocky View Schools (RVS) is inviting community members with a passion for leadership in public education to attend an information session Sept. 11 for prospective RVS board of trustees candidates.

The session will provide insight into the role of a trustee, how the division operates, and ways participants can help shape the future of education in RVS. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions.

Eight trustees will be elected Oct. 20. Nominations are being accepted until noon Sept. 22.

In addition to the Sept. 11 session, a candidate information session will be held Sept. 25 at the RVS Education Centre, 2651 Chinook Winds Drive S.W. in Airdrie, for all candidates who submit nomination papers.

Candidates must file Form 29 – Notice of Intent – with RVS’s returning officer before campaigning, fundraising or collecting donations. They must also collect signatures from 20 electors as part of the nomination package.

Unlike Cochrane town council, RVS requires a $100 deposit when submitting nomination forms.
