Through the first half of the 2025 Canadian Football League (CFL) regular season has a record 8-0 against six of their eight CFL opponents.

The one team that has had the Roughriders number this year is the Calgary Stampeders.

On Saturday, the Stampeders completed a two-game sweep over the Roughriders after a 32-15 victory at McMahon Stadium.

Saskatchewan still leads the Western Division with a two-point advantage, but Calgary only trails by two points and now own the pivotal tiebreaker in the event the two teams are tied when the season ends.

The Roughriders opened the scoring after a missed 28-yard field goal by Brett Lauther.

Dedrick Mills gave the Stampeders their first lead of the game with a six-yard touchdown run.

The Stampeders extended their advantage in the second quarter as Jalen Philpot had an 8-yard touchdown reception.

Saskatchewan answered back with a pair of touchdown receptions of their own, first Dohnte Meyers with a seven-yard touchdown catch and then Dhel Duncan-Busby gave the green and white the lead with a ten-yard touchdown reception.

With a slim one-point advantage heading into the second half, the Roughriders were unable to add to their total in the final 30 minutes.

Daylen Baldwin put the Stampeders ahead with a ten-yard catch. Rene Parades added a 53-yard field goal to move Calgary up to nine points.

The only touchdown of the final quarter was courtesy of Calgary’s Erik Brooks with a ten-yard reception. A successful two-point conversion, the Stampeders ended up winning by 17 points.

Calgary dominated the battle of the line scrimmage, picking up four sacks in Saturday’s contest while not allowing one. Clarence Hicks led with two sacks.

Stamps QB Vernon Adams Jr 222 passing yards with three touchdowns and threw a pair of interceptions.

Roughriders QB Trevor Harris had a rough afternoon with only 205 passing yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Saskatchewan did have a receiver go over the 100-yard mark, as Keesean Johnson had four receptions for 112 yards, including a 65-yard catch.

The green and white did battle the injury bug in their secondary. Cornerback Marcus Sayles was a late scratch forcing safety Nelson Lokombo over to cornerback and Jaxon Ford replacing him at safety.

During the game, Lokombo went down with an injury as Kerfalla-Emmanuel Exume was forced into action at cornerback.

Harris also left the game in the fourth quarter, but later said it was the result of leg cramps.

Next week, Saskatchewan will meet the one team they haven’t locked horns with yet this year, their arch-nemesis in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Winnipeg trails Saskatchewan by four points.

The prairie rivals will meet three times in the second half of the CFL schedule. The first matchup is the Labour Day Classic in Regina on Sunday, followed by the rematch in Winnipeg on Saturday, September 6.

On Friday, October 17, the two teams will meet for the final time at Princess Auto Stadium.
