The Red Deer Arts Council's Arts & Culture District Collab is inviting Central Albertans to take part in a free community conversation on the future of arts and culture.
“Audacity in the Arts: Reviving Cultural Relevance” will take place Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at The Scott Block Theatre in downtown Red Deer.
The evening will feature Alex Sarian, president and CEO of Arts Commons in Calgary and author of the critically acclaimed book The Audacity of Relevance. Sarian will lead a discussion on how the arts sector can adapt in times of crisis, pointing to issues such as declining audiences, changing philanthropic priorities and shifting social needs.
Doors open at 6 p.m., with light refreshments offered after the presentation. Sarian will also be available to sign copies of his book, which will be available for purchase. The Red Deer Public Library also offers e-book and audiobook editions through its Libby app.
Admission is free, with donations welcomed. Reservations can be made at showpass.com/alexsarian-rd.
The event is presented with support from the Downtown Neighbourhood Alliance and the City of Red Deer.
