A farmer from southwest Kerrobert has pleaded guilty in Kindersley Court on September 9, to attempting to possess a prohibited device under the Saskatchewan Firearms Act.
Court heard the man tried to purchase a suppressor for a rifle he used on his farm to protect his dog from coyotes. The device was intercepted by the RCMP before it reached him.
He was sentenced under the Firearms Act’s alternative sentencing program. As part of his sentence, he must retake the Canadian Firearms Safety Course and pay $500 to the Saskatoon Wildlife Federation.
An Alberta man also appeared in court facing charges of uttering threats and breaching a community safety officer’s curfew, stemming from incidents in 2022. His cases were transferred to Saskatoon provincial court for a bail hearing.
Other matters saw court activity as well. The Boultin case was adjourned until October 7, while the Zale trial, now adjourned until September 23, may be resolved without going to trial. Three additional cases were also adjourned until September 23.
